WINE EXPERTISE
This dry, velvety red wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon,St. Laurent and Cabernet Franc.
The soil and the grapes:
A healthy soil with diverse soil life allows the vines to thrive optimally. We create this basis by working in harmony with nature. So the decision for us to work according to EU ecological guidelines since 2009 was obvious.
Der Roter Fitz - The Dürkheim winery owner Johann Fitz was a rebel from the Palatinate (known as the red because of his hair color), who led the winegrowers at the Hambach Festival in 1832, the cradle of German democracy, in protest against a lack of freedom of the press, the many customs borders and high taxes, among other things also on the wine. In his speech he wrote "Drum is in our need, only he who drinks is a patriot". The black flag he wore with the inscription "Die Weinbauren mßen Trauren" is now a historically valuable exhibit in the Hambach Castle.

Our expansion:
The fully ripe, healthy grapes were destemmed. This was followed by a classic fermentation on the mash, depending on the grape variety for a period of 14 days to 3 weeks. The optimal maturation of the young wines took place in oak barrels.

Our wine:
Aromas of dark wild berries and spices on the nose. A fine structure is evident on the palate, supported by pleasant fruit and spice.
Analysis data:
Alcohol: 13.0%
Residual sugar: 0.3 g/l
Acid: 5.1 g/l
As a founding member of the VDP association, focus at Fitz-Ritter is on Riesling from the best vineyards. The wines are predominantly dry and clearly reflect the typical character of each provenance. Full-bodied and spicy, delicate and fine – the wines from each vineyard show great diversity. Sweet predicate wines round off the portfolio. The vineyards provide ideal conditions for the winery to grow Burgundy varieties. Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris vines thrive in limestone-studded clay soil and bring full-bodied, well balanced white wines.
The red wine varietals are predominantly planted in sandy soil. Following open mash fermentation, the wines, in particular the elegant Pinot Noirs, are matured for a term of 15 to 18 months in Barrique barrels made from oak of various origins.
